Safe, Effective and Environment Friendly
Inertec is SRI’s internationally accredited, environmentally friendly fire protection solution which uses inert gases as an extinguishing agent
What is Inertec?
Inertec fire suppression system is composed entirely of naturally occurring gases such as nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide that are mixed in certain proportion.
Therefore, it does not deplete the atmospheric ozone and does not create any greenhouse effect. With no long-term impact on the atmospheric life which is in line with the core of the modern fire protection concept of “protecting life, property and environment”.
Inertec fire suppression system is internationally certified by VdS, and locally approved by SGP and Bomba. Inertec system design is also in accordance with NFPA 2001 standards, and supported by VdS hydraulic calculations.

Pros and Cons of Inertec?
Pros
It has no residue, non-toxic and odourless and dissipates relatively quickly therefore ideal and safe to use when people are in protection area. It is easy to refill and can be transmitted over long distances with 200 and 300 bars. It will not cause any chemical reaction and does not need delayed discharge.
Cons
Because it is a passive fire extinguishing agent, the fire extinguishing effect is slightly poor. More hardware and cylinders are also required and the initial setup cost is usually higher compared to chemical gas types (e.g. HFC-227ea and FK-5112). Besides that, cylinders also need to occupy a larger area as storage.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Inertec work?
Inertec fire suppression system is based on a total flooding principle, whereby the oxygen concentration level in the protection area is reduced from 21% to below 15%. At below 15%, the fire is suppressed as fire cannot maintain combustion.
The quantity of inert gas required to adequate extinguish the fire is determined by the design concentration based on the room volume and class of fire.
Upon detection of smoke and heat, Inertec which is stored in high-pressure steel cylinders is automatically (or can be manual) discharged into the enclosure within 60 seconds via distribution piping and discharge nozzles.

Where can I use?
Computer rooms, power distribution rooms, wind turbine rooms, energy storage power stations, advanced precision instruments, museums, hospitals and etc.
Is it safe?
Inert gas is safe to use under normal design concentration ranges subject to the type of system.
